I trust that you are well and staying safe in this difficult time. It looks like we are destined to stay in lockdown for a while longer but there are some very early signs that we may see some very gradual changes before too long.
Derek has started cutting the green again and not surprisingly it’s looking good given that we are not spoiling it by playing bowls on it! The patches where the rabbit regularly waters it are well fertilised. The recent rain was timely and most welcome (well at least it gave me a short break from the garden).
Mike Jones and his grandson have been keeping the ditches in order and George Gibbs has been keeping an eye on the green on his trips to his allotment as well as keeping the hedges and borders tidy. Thanks to them both and to those who have been helping out.
My thanks also to all those who made a donation to the club funds over and above the regular membership fee and they are much appreciated. As Derek is now carrying out regular maintenance under the contract with Monmouth County Council we are incurring costs and so we need the money.
If you have not yet had an opportunity to make a payment (I suggested £10 in addition to the membership fee of £15) could you please do so when it is convenient. I can give you the precise details of the bank account and sort code if you wish to make the payment online, otherwise please get in touch with Mike on email@example.com and let him know how you wish to pay. Let me know if you need any more details.
Stay safe and best wishes

It would be wonderful to be able to send good news at this dark time..but I cannot, at least not as far as our Bowling Cub is concerned. The restrictions on movement and on the number of people who can gather together outside the home make it impossible at the moment to make any progress.
Our contract with Monmouthshire County Council to maintain the green is suspended because the work is not a priority. As and when there is some movement to open up some options we have agreed to renegotiate terms at that time. Similarly, if conditions permit us to do some work ourselves on the green and the surrounding hedges, we shall put the word out for some volunteers.
We know that there is zero chance of playing any form of league games this season but there may be a slim chance of sneaking a game or two in three or four months’ time but it would be a brave gambler to put any money on that!
For the time being therefore we must wait until the restrictions are eased in some way but, although we will not have so many outgoings as usual, it would be most helpful if we could collect a reduced membership fee to contribute to whatever outgoings we incur. It is suggested that we pay our usual £15 Club membership fee and if we can add a voluntary contribution of say, £10 each, making a total fee of £25, that would be most helpful. It will help reinforce the feeling of belonging to the Club and help ensure that the green and premises will be looked after to our best ability.
Please either send a cheque for the desired amount direct to Mike Jones or pay it can be made by BACS, direct to our bank account. For further details contact Mike direct.
Stay safe and best wishes
